Little Red Riding Hood Revisited

Fairy tales, myths and legends can make some great starting points for writing ideas.

I’ve noticed some new renditions out of the Little Red Riding Hood fairy tale from the last year or so. There’s Red Hood’s Revenge by Jim C. Hines, Iodine by C.L. Hilbert, and Red by Kait Nolan. Have you seen any others?

Several of the short stories in the Fairy Tale Anthologies edited by Ellen Datlow and Terri Windling have are based on Red Riding Hood. "Riding the Red" comes immediately to mind. These are reworkings of classic fairy tales, in feel usually closer to the original dark tales than the Bowdlerized, Disney-ified stories we know today.

Neat. I'll have to check them out. In general, I'm not a fan of the bland ones although I do remember being pretty scared of the Stepmother in Snow White as a little kid.
