Friendless in Columbus

I don't really have any friends here. Women (or men) I can do things with and hang out with. Some events this week reminded me of how I miss it.

One of my best friends was in town. We got to eat dinner and go for ice cream on Tuesday. Then on Thursday we went to the movies and hung out afterwards and talked.

On Wednesday I went to acupuncture. I parked the car and saw someone jogging down the street towards me who called me name. It was one of the ladies from the knitting group who hasn't been there in a month. We chatted while we walked down the street to the crosswalk. It was nice.

I don't have anyone I hang out with on a regular basis, either. When you have those moments of closeness, it makes that emptiness afterward all the more poignant.

Thank goodness for the internet.

I think without my internet friends I'd be completely bonkers.

This is one reason Pete and I aren't in any hurry to leave Kansas City. In Pittsburgh, we had no friends. It was impossible to meet people our age. Here, we know a lot of people and have formed some very close friendships. We don't want to give that up, and start all over in a new city not knowing if we'll be able to meet people and have friends!

I think it's nice you and Pete hang out with the same circle of friends.

I wish we lived nearer to one another.
