Writer's Block: Busting Blocks

It's blockbuster season in movie theaters. What was the last movie you saw?

View 500 Answers

The last movie I saw was Angel Face starring Jean Simmons and Robert Mitchum.

The last movie I saw in the theater was Away We Go starring Jim Krasinksi and Maya Rudolph.

The relationships couldn't be more different if I had tried to pick them out on my own.

Writer's Block: RIP Michael Jackson

In honor of the King of Pop: What is your favorite Michael Jackson song?

I think it would be "Rock With You" or "Billie Jean".

I had pulled up at Carfagna's when I heard he was given CPR and taken to the hospital.  Later when I got home I saw the headline.

My supervisor was at work when he found out.  He stood up, walked into the middle of the room and said, "I think I'm going to cry."  Then he left the room so he could.

One of the advantanges/disadvantages to having a tv on all day during work is you hear all the news as it's breaking.

Writer's Block: Call Me

Do you still use a landline at home, or do you rely completely on your cell phone?

View 502 Answers

As someone who created disaster recovery plans for a long time, it was very difficult to give up the landline.  We went to VOIP when we got the house.  My cell phone is  used sporadically as I still have the mindset that it's only for emergency situations.  :)

Writer's Block: Really, Truly

Do you believe in true love? What about love at first sight?

I do believe in true love.  I married mine.  :)

Love at first sight is possible but doesn't happen often.

Do you prefer texting or talking on the phone?

I have a pay as you go Tracfone and I haven't figured out how to text on it yet.  It's really just for emergencies or to give hubby updates on where I am.  The only texting I've done with any reliability is from a web page to a cell phone or pager.  :)

I definitely prefer talking on the phone!

Writer's Block: Little Women

Fans of Little Women often divide along Jo/Amy lines. Jo was independent and smart, but Amy always seemed to get what she wanted and have more fun. Are you in the Jo camp or the Amy camp?

Jo seems to be the only right answer to this question!

Writer's Block: Meat Cake

Happy birthday, Humane Society of the United States! A staffer here at LJ loves her dog so much that she made her a meat cake for her birthday. What's the most elaborate (and possibly not justifiable to non-pet owners) thing you've ever done for your pet?

View 217 Answers

For birthdays, the most I've ever done is buy a peanut butter cake from Heidi's Bakery in Grandview.  Here is a picture of one of them.  I wanted to bake a cake for Sammy this year but didn't get around to it.  For his Gotcha Day he got a new treat the next day.

The most elaborate thing I've ever done for a pet was for Zilla.  I was on the phone with the emergency vet taking his pulse (and having no idea what I was doing) while taking his temperature at the same time.  I'm thankful the phone was cordless.

Writer's Block: A.A. Milne

Some people find Eeyore’s gloomy outlook charming. Others prefer the bouncy enthusiasm of Tigger. Who would you rather be trapped in an elevator with: Eeyore or Tigger?

I live with Tigger in the form of Sammy.  With Eeyore I'd get so frustrated at some point that I'd want to strangle him.  With Tigger, even when frustrated there's usually some point when it becomes laughable.  Definitely Tigger.

Writer's Block: The Only True Question:

If you could go back and fix your most regrettable decision, what would it be, and what would you do differently?

Or:

Pirates or Ninjas?

Writer's Block: My First Car

What was your first car?

View 501 Answers

My first car was a used silver Chevy Nova obtained from a couple several months after I got married.  The couple was getting a newer car as they were expecting their first child.

The Nova had a boxy almost Rabbitish exterior but the interior was all Toyota parts.  We'd call it the Super Nova after the Liz Phair song.  It had a grey cloth interior and those flat tabs to lock the doors.  I'm pretty sure it had crank handles but I was really happy it had a tape deck.

For some reason it began conking out.  I drove into the hospital parking lot once from lunch and it just died.  I had to put it in park and then restart it.  Dave, our mechanic at the time, said "Something deep in the heart of it died."  All in all, I think we got six years out of it.

Next came my favorite, the Passat.

Writer's Block: House Call

Whose house (besides your own) were you in last and why?

View 501 Answers

I was last in my aunt's house for a Pampered Chef party on Thursday.  Went there straight away after work, helped make a strawberry trifle dessert (which I couldn't eat) and the other team of people made a cheeseburger salad.  I was able to dig through some of the salad but it was kind of a pain.  The librarian at her job was just diagnosed with Crohn's.  Surprisingly, because I didn't have much to eat and had been worried about getting there on time, I didn't have a flare-up from drinking sangria.

Writer's Block: Top Five Video Games

What's on your Top 5 video games list?

View 500 Answers

I'll have to give this some thought.  I'm not including any online games for this list.  I can think of two off the top of my head.
The first is Magic Carpet for the PC.  I played this for hours.  You're a prince who must capture the trail of magic balls and use them to attack monsters and things that attack you while you're on your carpet.  It used a joystick.  Before we moved we still had it.  It was made by Leapfrog and ran great on our pentium 75.  Later we installed it (I think on this laptop) and it was too choppy to play.  The processor was too fast for it.
The second game is Diablo for the PC.  This was another game I played for hours.  I'd just kill things from dungeon to dungeon and pick up all the loot I could find.

I'm sure there are more but I wanted to get this down before I started working some more on my NaNo.
