I grabbed a salt bagel from a local bakery and went to work. When I got to work he'd reached someone (who was already there) and I still couldn't get to the database. Blech!
So I went home. My husband was getting ready to leave for the WOSU taping for A Lion in the House. I hadn't even taken a shower or anything but I went with him. I walked over to the Ohio Union. The posted building hours are 11am to 8pm on Sundays. Three doors a student tried were locked. I got to one and was just starting to open it when an employee was leaving with a bunch of food. I held the door open for him because he had two big boxes of hamburger patties. He asked if I was an employee and I said no, the hours posted on the door seem to be wrong; I had wanted in to get something to eat but since the door was locked I was just holding it for him. He explained again that it was only open for employees. I said I was just holding the door open for him. I was thinking, "You moron, if you'd let go of the door with your knee you would see that I will close it and not try to sneak in. I am not a criminal and I'm obviously not going to be able to get something to eat at Wendy's if no one is allowed in the building." But I didn't say any of what I was thinking. As soon as he let go of the door with his knee I closed it and walked over to the Wexner Center.
I saw the short films in The Box which were pretty funny. The discussion panel for A Lion in the House went very well. I learned about a support group for siblings called Super Sibs!. Looking at their site tonight, I thought... I have a bunch of rubber stamping supplies I'm not really using. There is no reason why I can't make Smile Cards for them. So that's going to be my next project. My parents gave time to the Boy Scouts (and Girl Scouts when I got older) and set an example for me to help others.
I know I should probably get involved in efforts to assist in find a cure for my own disease but the events sponsored by the Crohns and Colitis Foundation just seem so expensive or just not me. Like golfing... I have no interest in it whatsoever. It seems like each time I go to the site they are having a golfing outing. I just found out, though, there is a yard sale in my neighborhood on June 3rd. They've had it for the last 6 years and raised over $8000. I give most of our unwanted items to the National Kidney Foundation so we don't really have anything to donate to it. I guess that means I'll have to buy!
I watched a lot of tv today instead of writing. I'm prepared to watch the final Top Chef now. Earlier this week we watched Prison Break but I still don't know how it ends! Because of the President's speech, the show was off by 20 minutes. Those 20 minutes should have bled into 24 which we taped. But the DVR had somehow adjusted everything by the time 24 came on so that it only taped the show and not what should have been showing during the time slot. I saw a headline on Salon.com that the finale was a satisfying one. Now I'll have to hunt down spoiler sites.
