August 24th - Read For The Record

Jumpstart is an organization that believes in helping lower income children get a jumpstart on their reading. Children from middle income families typically have 1700 hours of one-to-one reading time before kindergarten while children from lower income families have much less. Less one-to-one reading time means these children will have less vocabulary words than their peers with more one-to-one reading time.

You can help by reading The Little Engine That Could on August 24th. You can buy or donate special editions of this book for yourself or for schools in your area. Or you can donate your time or money to provide one-on-one reading time. Please see Read For The Record for details.
