Movies and Such

I went to Talledaga Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby with low expectations. I don't know if it was the expectations, or if it's the quality of the movie, but I had a side-splitting, laughingly good time. Lady Vengeance really makes me wonder about Chang-Wook Park. Like Oldboy he puts a person in an unlikely situation that just keeps getting worse and worse. Is he taking revenge on his characters for the verbal beatings he took as a kid from his schoolmates? On the opposite spectrum is An Inn At Osaka. The main character, Mr. Mito, was recently demoted at the insurance company founded by his family. He is a good person. The people he meets are not always kind but there are reasons behind their actions. The ending is bittersweet as he leaves the city of Osaka. The funniest parts of You, Me, and Dupree were Seth Rogen scenes or ones that had a slight physical comedic touch. We saw that as Little Miss Sunshine didn't start for another hour and I really wanted to use my movie pick.

This weekend has brought long and vivid dreams. It's also brought interrupted sleep by the sinuses.

Saturday morning I got my hair done. Sometimes I wish I could make my hair look as good as ~E~'s cousin does. It looked really sassy after she did it. My husband said I made it look sassy but it wasn't as flamboyantly sassy. Sometimes that's a good thing.

I've begun writing a new short story but I feel like the beginning is crap. I just have to work through it and keep writing!

Tonight I had ice cream at Jeni's with a former employee and his partner. That was nice. I found out that someone I emailed about a job at my company who never responded moved over to my old department. I guess that means he's not interested, even though he asked me to keep him updated on jobs at my new employer after I left my old job and had responded to other emails I sent to him. The least he could have done was say thanks but no thanks.

My EverQuest Guild is going to be celebrating their 10-year anniversary next year. They've bought the old domain back and are in the process of getting it up and running again. That's exciting. I felt like I'd been kicked in the ribs after the domain registration expired and even though I was promised the files for the site they were never sent to me. It's another lesson learned to do back-ups!

I've been watching the Harry, Carrie and Garp video of Stephen King, John Irving and J.K. Rowling. It's only been a few minutes a day, but it's been fun. I like the give and take of author readings.

This week my friend from Wisconsin will be in town and I should get to see her on Wednesday. It will probably be the whole family (hubby and two kids). I have no idea yet what we can do.

You know... I really should be in bed at the moment but I just don't want to go to bed.
