When I was in kindergarten I had two best friends at school. One was named Katherine and the other was Susan. Katherine had long brown curly hair and milk chocolate brown eyes. I wanted to be like her in so many ways.
I don’t remember what precipitated our argument on the playground but the most hurtful words came out of my mouth.
“I’m never speaking to you again!”
Of course it wasn’t very long before I was speaking to her again. I mean, she was one of my best friends.
“I thought you weren’t speaking to me ever again?”
The question brought me to a halt. When had I said I wasn’t going to speak to her? And then I remembered my earlier words. I told her I didn’t mean what I said and we resumed our friendship.
Rule #1 - Think before you speak.
