Blubbery Mess

I'm a slight blubbery mess at the moment.

Took Sammy for a short walk down the street after he ate his dinner.  A few houses down, the bull terrier raced out from behind the storm door, stopped at Sammy on the sidewalk and then the two of them began to tussle.  Sammy went down with teeth and snarls and I let go of the leash.  It looked like the bull terrier touched noses with Sammy and then went for Sammy's neck and knocked him down.

I knew that I was not going to be able to get them apart and there was no sense in getting my hands bitten.  The owners flew off the porch and grabbed their dog.  Sammy was snarling and growling ready to give him what for.  I picked him up and tried to calm him down.  Tried to make a joke about how that was why George the cat didn't want to come home.  Their storm door wasn't latched all of the way.

Sammy seems fine but Corgis don't always indicate when they are hurt.  I felt him all over and couldn't find any puncture marks or anything.  Now we're home and I'm just in tears from the rush of adrenaline.

I haven't had dinner yet but I'm thinking it might be ice cream time.

*tight hug!* Ice cream is the perfect dinner after something like this.

I am sure your baby will be just fine; he is too adorable not to be.

Thanks! I did end up having some pot roast but no ice cream. He seems like his new laid back self today.

Oh geez, that is terrifying. You have every right to still be blubbery.

Oh no! How scary! I hope Sammy is all right. Corgis are such tough little guys. But I know how you feel...it's just horrifying when something like that happens! I can see crying -- I get angry as hell when a dog threatens Ein! Special doggie treats for Sammy and yes, ice cream for you!

Against my better judgment I gave Sammy the bone from the pot roast this morning. It was so big he didn't know what to do with it, so he just kept licking where the marrow/fat was in the middle. He seems okay today.

I started crying again when my husband called to find out what happened. But we're okay. I'm now walking him on the other side of the street. No dogs over there.

I do hope you and Sammy are doing better. That was an understandable upsetting experience.

We're doing okay today. I've started walking him on the other side othe street. I think I'll need to put a leash on him when I pop out to the backyard though. The owner and his dog walk around our house into the alleyway sometimes.
