I have wanted to learn how to knit for almost 20 years. And now I know! I took a beginning class earlier this month and learned the very basics: how to cast on, how to cast off, knit, purl, and stockinette. I'm making a scarf right now for my sister-in-law. She probably won't appreciate it but oh well. I'm having fun making it, even if I've taken the stitches out twice now (and about to do so a third time). I also signed up for the next class which involves making a hat. I've got my round needles and yarn so I'm all set for tomorrow.
Last year and this year I decided to make a turkey as there's never really any leftovers where we go each year. Today is the day I'm making mine. I couldn't find the roasting rack so the bottom is going to be all soggy. For a change, I'm "cleaning up as I go" so there aren't a ton of dirty dishes in the sink.
I got a late start on the turkey because we went to see Martha Marcy May Marlene this afternoon and that's when I was planning on starting the cooking. I'm keeping it very basic since it's just the two of us. Turkey, mashed taters, and sausage stuffing. The stuffing is prepped and just needs the liquid added before going into the oven and I'll start the taters after I take the turkey out. I've been trying to get out of the habit of making dinner for us so late.
While on vacation it was nice to have everything done and out of the way by 8pm and thanks to having to work until 6pm or later (again, the busy time of year at work) I don't often eat until 9pm or 10pm.
