The Hunger Games

When I realized the movie was coming out soon, I put my name on the reserve list (600 something) and got my copy on Thursday after work. I only got 11 pages in before I could really dig into it on Friday. And it was done by Saturday afternoon.

It was a page turner.

I ended up seeing the movie on Saturday. My husband didn't read the book and he felt it was easy to follow along. The only thing he never got was Haymitch also being from District 12. There were a few things they changed. (I won't spoil anything for anyone.) I think they're setting up for the next movies. I felt more connected to Katniss in the book than in the movie. In the book she's intelligent and bad ass. In the movie she comes across as more bad ass.

I heard an interview on NPR and the second one hasn't been written yet. He better get cracking!

I have neither read the book or seen the movie. The plan is to see the movie first at this point as I find I am more likely to still enjoy the book after seeing the movie, but am known to hold grudges when movies change the books (depends on the if I can get the reasoning behind the changes or not).

Well, I felt the reasoning behind the most major changes was the rating...I heard they made some changes even after it was filmed to get a PG-13 rating instead of an R rating.

There were definitely some changes that got to me more than others. There was one minor change that bugged me like CRAZY, but probably most people wouldn't care about.

I thought it was well done and really enjoyed it. Went with a group, and we all came out saying we can't wait for the second movie. My friend Robert and I agreed we liked the Arena in the second book a lot better. I keep wanting to speculate, but I haven't read Pete the second book yet!

I didn't read the book before I saw the movies because I do the same think you do. I compare and most of the time the inaccuracies bug me. So I just wanted to enjoy it before nitpicking it. I loved it. I thought it was well done.
