Usual Saturday

Yesterday we went to the library just a few blocks away from us. They are celebrating their 80th anniversary this year and are one of the libraries with an adult summer reading club. I haven't been in one of those since I was in middle school. After listening to a few books on tape and reading about 4 or 5 books, I won a prize! I can't remember the name of the salon, but it's within walking distance for me and is one of the expensive ones in our area. I haven't had a haircut that cost more than $12 since before I was married, I think.

My husband and I ate lunch from Taco Bell (I haven't been there in a few months) and watched the Celebrity Poker Tournament with Mimi Rogers and Kathy Najimy. I wanted Mimi to win since she's become a better player but it was not to be, I guess. I like watching Texas Hold'Em. I've only played once with other people and the betting was the most confusing part. For some reason though, I keep thinking the best hand is of four cards, not five, so I get excited that I have a straight when I'm missing one card. That's not good, is it? I had some popcorn as a snack and the dog took some of my attention. He loves popcorn and when he knows we have some, he starts to drool. I don't mean just a little bit. I mean lots of it! It falls from the corners of his month and it falls from the gap between his bottom front teeth. It's so funny.

We hung around the house and then went to his work so we could see Jacques Tati's Playtime in 70mm print. I had never seen it before. I won't say it's my favorite film of his, but I wish there were more comic movies along that vein. The audience has to be somewhat on the ball in order to get some of the jokes.

The original plan was to go out to dinner before the movie, but that didn't happen. I was hungry afterwards and we went to East Coast Penn Station for subs. My husband suggested it and I was a little crabby because I've not found any sub from there yet that I like and I was hungry! I ended up getting a chicken salad sub, french fries and lemonade. All of it was yummy! Now I have a sandwich there that I can get and know I'll like it. One of the drawbacks to being addicted to buffalo chicken is not knowing what else to get at restaurants.

While eating dinner we watched Big Brother. I must say that I'm pretty happy with how things are in the house right now. Granted, Scott or Jase may win the Golden Veto competition, but one of them will probably be shown the door this week. They're jerks.

I finished reading my book Orchard by Larry Watson and went to bed.

Plans for today include a trip to another library and a get together at my Mom's. That's a boring story I'll bore you with later. I am going to take a quick nap now and get up again in an hour or so to start my day.
