The Verdict is In!

My life the last six months have revolved around my bowel movements. Not something pretty to think about or smell, I know, but it's true.

Don't worry, I won't go into any of the gorey details about them or what I went through getting samples last week for the doctor's office. :)

Today I had a colonoscopy done and I was told I have Crohn's Disease. While I was sleeping off the sedative my family doctor's office called. I returned the call in the afternoon and... the anemia and other results from the tests indicate I have Crohn's Disease. It's good to know that both doctors are on the same page.

Unfortunately, I've been told to start a low residue (aka fiber) diet which is kind of the opposite of what my husband is on. Also, it seems like the different places I've looked regarding the diet don't always agree. Some say don't drink anything with your meal. Some say to have a drink with your meal. Some say no raw fruits and vegetables. Some say canned fruits and vegetables are okay.

It's better to know than to keep wondering. :)

This might help -- it's a Crohn's Disease website with podcasts and loads of links: http://crohnstalk.libsyn.com/

That looks like a good place. I haven't heard any of the podcasts yet but it gives both views of things so I might be a little more sensitive to what my husband's been going through.

*comforting hugs*
I completely feel your pain. While I have not had this diagnosed, I have been doing through similar bouts of bad stomachitis for the better part of six years. I haven't done anything about it because it's intermittent, and I can go two to three weeks without a problem.

I'm glad you did; I know how much it's been bothering you lately. I hope the added stress of everything didn't exacerbate it, either.

*gives you big hugs and a nice glass of water since that's probably the only safe thing you can ingest right now*

Okay, so that's a bit mean, but it's funny!

*hopes you at least smirked.*
