NaNo Prep

Lately I've gotten on the PC at night to check my forums and look at things I need to look at. Then I get a second wind and start looking at the NaNoWriMo forums. Before I know it, it's 1:30am and I should get to bed.

This weekend I have to play with the outlines/characters of my two potential novels. I also have to decide if I'm going to do a few other things. "What other things?" you ask. Well, let me tell you... crazy, fun things! People will issue dares which is not only a good way to pad the number of words, but is also helpful in giving yourself a mini-challenge and reminds you to have fun with this. It's all about fun! And being crazy! Plot Bunnies. Am I going to adopt any? Characters and entire plots can be adopted/taken too. Looking at the different suggestions I can see some that would fit into one of the novels or would be good ideas for later. Some people spend the month creating playlists/CDs to listen to while they write. I probably won't do one since I normally don't put together playlists/CDs. That's more of something my husband would do. Some people make up covers for their novels. That's something I might do afterwards but not beforehand or while the noveling is going on.

People have been posting Excel spreadsheets for report cards on progress. I took one but wonder if I want to keep it, modify it, or try another one. I can see a lot of background calculations, etc. that I would not have seen in it three or four years ago when I barely used Excel for work. Funny how even when you don't use things in the way they are intended that you can still pick up on stuff when you're familiar with it.
